When ideas fail, words come in very handy
Writing about the forthcoming Birmingham performance of Stockhausen's Mittwoch aus Licht BBC arts correspondent Rebecca Jones tells us:
'The opportunity to see it performed in its entirety for the first time will, therefore, become a significant landmark in the history of opera.'Leaving aside the tortured syntax, can anyone provide an example of an insignificant landmark? Or is it a case of dream on?

Sorry, but inflated language and woolly thinking will remain a target here, irrespective of whether the subject is Stockhausen or André Rieu, and irrespective of who writes it.
