The great wave of world music to come


In February I wrote about ECM's release of a 3 CD box of recording's from 1978 to 1982 by Collin Walcott's band Codona (Walcott is seen above), and said this is "definitely something not to be missed". Judging by the news item below from the ECM website quite a few other people have come to the same conclusion:
And at #29 [on the German jazz charts published by Media Control International] we are glad to see The Codona Trilogy, the triple-album reissue of the genre-defying albums by Don Cherry, Nana Vasconcelos and Collin Walcott, recorded 1978-1982, and setting the stage as Die Zeit noted recently, for the great wave of ‘world music’ to come.
Raga a good world music bargain here.
