Netflixed and enshittified

That book was published in 1996. Today aspirational art has been netflixed and enshittified. Thankfully in an era of AI slop and mid TV and radio some still defend cultural snobbery.

Thanks - I just ordered a used copy of the book. I have just read a book by Jennifer Doctor https://www.cambridge.org/gb/universitypress/subjects/music/twentieth-century-and-contemporary-music/bbc-and-ultra-modern-music-19221936-shaping-nations-tastes?format=HB&isbn=9780521661171

A very interesting read - I can't imagine such a level of debate taking place today. We never hear music from Nicolas Maw, hardly any Harrison Birtwistle or even Michael Tippett on the radio anymore - the curse of the dead modernist composer, or just too darned demanding?
