It's who you know...

I notice that Norman Lebrecht was complaining recently about a music related post at Trinity College, Cambridge being filled without being advertised. I also notice Lebrecht has become the de facto BBC Radio 4 talking head for all matters classical, another post that was filled without being advertised. As a comment on the Trinity College story so rightly points out "Far too cosy... But that's how the world works I guess. It's who you know..."

The Cambridge story revolves around Ēriks Ešenvalds who is described by Lebrecht as "a Latvian composer of considerable obscurity". For some light rather than heat read my two articles about Ēriks Ešenvalds here and here and listen to my interview with him here, while Hyperion's new disc of his music can be sampled here.

I love it -- keep the Lebrecht body-slams coming!

Couldn't happen to a nicer chap :)

I'm amazed anybody is still listening to NL...

You are, of course, quite right Gavin.

And it is equally amazing that the BBC still grants him any credibility.
