Social media masterclass 1

And if you can’t shape your life the way you want,
at least try as much as you can
not to degrade it
by too much contact with the world,
by too much activity and talk.

Try not to degrade it by dragging it along,
taking it around and exposing it so often
to the daily silliness
of social events and parties,
until it comes to seem a boring hanger-on.
Poem is As Much As You Can by C.P.Cavafy (1863-1933) who is seen in my header photo. In 1927 Dimitri Mitropoulos' 10 inventions based on poems by Cavafy was premiered at the Athens Conservatoire.

Photo is via Hellenic Foundation for Culture and the Edmund Keeley/Philip Sherrard of the poem is from the website of the Cavafy Archives.
