The feel good factor

It is unseasonably hot here in Norwich, and I have just walked through the remains of the pre-Reformation Dominican Friary complex in the city centre. In the nave of the magnificent former Friary church the Philharmonia Orchestra are rehearsing Rachmaninov 2 under Vladimir Ashkenazy, and the dreaded sound-limiter is switched off .

In the old cloisters students from Norwich School of Art and Design are lounging in the brilliant sun and putting the world to rights. One of them is hand painting signs and displaying them around the precints.
