(It's not a company car - that was a poorly delivered joke).

One advantage of living in rural East Anglia is that there are not many FM stations. However I understand 88.5 and 88.3 FM are relatively clear across the UK. It will be interesting to see how the iTrip works (illegally) in more crowded France the week after next.Pliablehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-26666199027300242692009-05-20T22:32:47.569+01:002009-05-20T22:32:47.569+01:00Have you looked into purchasing an AUX input adapt...Have you looked into purchasing an AUX input adapter? Googling "skoda octavia aux input" gives me this for 33 GBP, you might be able to get a better price somewhere else:

http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-connects2-ctvskx003_p-22053.htm

Of course, since this is a company car, I guess buying a proprietary addon for it is a little bleh. Maybe you can expense it as a way to listen to work-related stuff in the car? ;)

I bought an adapter for my Mazda3 for around $100 back in 2004, and it was absolutely worth the money. Dunno how well FM transmitters work in the UK but the sub-$50 ones are just a waste of money in US cities. Some assembly required (I had to take the front faceplate to the center console off, plugging the adapter in, and figuring out how to make the aux input accessible).Richard Tollertonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01090397860437358524noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-60201467371123445942009-05-20T19:50:16.591+01:002009-05-20T19:50:16.591+01:00Scott, yes, I had one of those as well.

At around 3.30 am there was a thunder storm of biblical proportions as I was passing Le Mans on the autoroute.

The CD adaptor with its trailing lead was in the cassette player and Bohm's recording of the Alpine Symphony played very loudly as the lightning flashed and the rain lashed down. Unforgetable ...

And just to prove there is nothing new under the sun they are still sold for MP3 players -

http://www.amazon.com/CASSETTE-TAPE-DECK-ADAPTER-ADAPTOR/dp/B001DNTGY4

I gave that solution a miss in favour of a wireless solution!Pliablehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-39439774374628694622009-05-20T19:35:20.315+01:002009-05-20T19:35:20.315+01:00Spiffing!

Insert the "cassette," connect to a portable CD player, tune FM to the defined frequency, and play CD's.

Yes, it worked, but I recall the wires and the portable CD player as being a perishing nuisance, always slithering to somewhere you didn't want them.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-7293132848216641922009-05-20T07:11:06.292+01:002009-05-20T07:11:06.292+01:00There are many possible sources for in car music, ...There are many possible sources for in car music, including this one -

http://www.imperialclub.com/Repair/Accessories/HiWay/Chrysler.htmPliablehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-389907901434685442009-05-19T23:37:09.164+01:002009-05-19T23:37:09.164+01:00Well, I'm not up to date enough to have an iPod.
