tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-1136720592330096022006-01-08T23:43:00.000Z2007-07-21T21:54:24.325+01:00David Munrow and the Voyager golden record<span style="color:#000000;"><a href="http://shop.castleclassics.co.uk/acatalog/SBT21368.gif"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 145px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 140px" height="200" alt="" src="http://shop.castleclassics.co.uk/acatalog/SBT21368.gif" border="0" /></a>A really excellent <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archivehour/pip/l9ute/">one hour long programme</a> on early music performer, broadcaster, and musicologist <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Munrow">David Munrow</a> <span style="font-size:85%;">(right)</span> was broadcast on <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/index.shtml">BBC Radio 4</a> yesterday <span style="font-size:85%;">(7th Jan)</span>, and you can catch it via <a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/archivehour/pip/l9ute/">'Listen Again'</a> until 13th January. </span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"></span><br /><span style="color:#000000;"><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Munrow">David Munrow</a> died by his own hand on 15th May 1976 aged just thirty-three. The two <a href="http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/voyager.html">Voyager space craft</a> launched a year after his death each contained an eclectic 90-minute <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voyager_Golden_Record">'golden record'</a> of music from many cultures, including Eastern and Western classics. Among them is a performance by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Munrow">David Munrow</a> and his Early Music Consort of London.
