As I write their beautiful recording of Robin Milford's music with Christopher Finzi conducting the Southern Pro Arte (leader Hugh Bean) and with soloists including oboeist Evelyn Barbirolli.

2009 is the 50th anniversary of Milford's death. I must mark it on the path.

Inexplicably the 1981 Milford disc is not available on CD. Instead Hyperion re-recorded a supplemented programme with different forces in 2003, possibly because the 1981 release contained less than 40 minutes of music.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_MilfordPliablehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-1720222031376259622009-01-03T19:34:00.000+00:002009-01-03T19:34:00.000+00:00I still have a DMM release of Schreker's Chamber S...I still have a DMM release of Schreker's Chamber Symphony. It boasts an immediacy of sound and enveloping spatial presence that would be envied today.JMWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09520926883774598349noreply@blogger.com
