(My older brother’s memory of it is probably more vivid.)

My memories, however, are vivid of the documentary film, "The Sky Above, The Mud Below", which, I now see, won an Academy Award in 1961, and which I saw when I was eight, nine, or ten.

(Some of your readers might recall that in late 1961, 22-year old Michael C. Rockefeller, son of Nelson A. Rockefeller who was then the Governor of the State of New York and member of one of the wealthiest families in the United States, disappeared in Asmat, Papau New Guinea, when his boat overturned while he was on an art collecting expedition. He was never found, although his art collection is now a pinnacle of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in New York City).Garth Trinklhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11084463787729969177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-76699640273017890442008-12-18T11:24:00.000+00:002008-12-18T11:24:00.000+00:00Writing this post prompted me to dig out Joshua Be...Writing this post prompted me to dig out Joshua Bell's recording of Nicholas Maw's 1993 Violin Concerto with Roger Norrington and the LPO.

If your tastes are more post-romantic than post-modern it is worth a hearing -

http://www.amazon.com/Nicholas-Maw-Violin-Concerto/dp/B00004STKVPliablehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-46717176740114557922008-12-18T11:11:00.000+00:002008-12-18T11:11:00.000+00:00Notice that the Indianapolis Symphony are marketin...Notice that the Indianapolis Symphony are marketing a Christmas with Raymond Leppard CD -

http://www.indianapolissymphony.org/store/index.aspx?psn=2546Pliablehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.com
