Roberto Gerhard and Richard Rodney Bennett are certainly on the list, and Lennox Berkeley's Third Symphony flirted with serial techniques.

http://www.boosey.com/pages/cr/composer/composer_main.asp?composerid=2716

http://www.chesternovello.com/Default.aspx?TabId=2431&State_2905=2&composerId_2905=100

http://www.lennoxberkeley.org.uk/timeline.htmPliablehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-1351647809549680142007-10-25T07:16:00.000+01:002007-10-25T07:16:00.000+01:00Humphrey Searle?Humphrey Searle?Bobhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16567817295665099690noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-87936002676229944792007-10-24T22:50:00.000+01:002007-10-24T22:50:00.000+01:00"There is much unpublished music by Josef Mattias ..."There is much unpublished music by Josef Mattias Hauer, and all his compositions after 1940 are described by him as Zwölftonspiel or Zwölftonmusik - twelve-tone song, or twelve-tone music. A recording project there perhaps?"

There have been several remarkable recording projects of Hauer's works over the past generation, and I have in my LP collection one recording of his piano cycles on either the 1750 Arch Street or New Albion labels (Herbert Henck?) (Richard Friedman can probably provide more details since I see from quick research that he was involved in broadcasting Hauer in the early to mid 1970s, in the San Francisco Bay Area.)

An additional quick search comes up with these two items: a set of 15 sound samples from the MD & G Label Ensemble Avantgard recording of Hauer from 2001, and two AMADEO LP recordings of various Hauser works. (There are reportedly about 1000 Hauer "Zwölftonspiel" or Zwölftonmusik" works from ca. 1940 to 1959, many titled with dates.)

http://music.barnesandnoble.com/search/product.asp?r=1&ean=760623106021

*

Thanks for the wonderful article!Garth Trinklhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11084463787729969177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8060605.post-74201895056393098172007-10-24T21:26:00.000+01:002007-10-24T21:26:00.000+01:00A point of music trivia.Susie Harris, who is one p...A point of music trivia.

Susie Harris, who is one part of the husband and wife team who wrote the excellent Elisabeth Lutyens biography Pilgrim Soul, is the daughter of Neville Marriner.Pliablehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10616598845886342325noreply@blogger.com
