Thanks for the recommend. I have ordered the Inbal version (at £4.63). The Boulez was transferred to CD 14 years ago, and Sony are getting much better results from their analogue tapes nowadays. The current (2006) 2-CD release of Boulez's Debussy recordings is hardly recognisable as the same recording as the older CD version or the LP. So the faults with the Gurrelieder may be on the transfer rather than the master tapes.

Wow, nice to have a face to put to your wonderful Paths now, Pliable! At first, I thought "Wow, Pliable's really stretching out today, he has a photo of Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode > Yaz > Erasure". No, I realize all Englishmen *don't* look the same! :-)

Thanks for the link to the Gurrelieder recordings, it's heartening to see so many of that marvelous piece. I'm partial to the Chailly with Susan Dunn and Siegfried Jersualem. It was out of print for years and I finally found a used copy about six months ago for $8 (4 pounds). I told the clerk at the record store "You could probably have asked $40 and I'd have paid it". He frowned.

I'd love to hear the Levine with Voigt and Heppner......

Just thought I'd point out that the Bahai's have quite a wonderful choral tradition.

I got to experience this first hand as I was able to release, on my FURIANT RECORDS label, a pre-exisiting (and post-label exisiting, as far as I know) CD entitled Songs of the Ancient Beauty. It was produced by Toronto composer Jack Lenz, who is Baha'i, and includes a number of original compostions. I found the whole thing quite fascinating.

Before I went belly-up, I was in the process of issuing a few more choral works, including an Baha'i Oratorio. It is an incredible faith system. Even Queen Victoria was taken by it. Sort of a Quaker Movement from an Islamic point.
