I have a suspicion that John would provide those extra hands pro bono if it would allow him to make music. It's a disgrace that in 2013 an African American conductor of his enormous talent does not have an orchestra, especially given some of the conductors who do. We could well be deliberating this situation fifty years ago re Dean Dixon.
